FOX BOX PREMIERES…
SONIC X Accidentally transported by Chaos Control, Sonic finds himself on a strange planet inhabited by humans and teams up with his newest friend, Christopher. Together, Sonic and Christopher embark on a series of exhilarating and elaborate quests as they search for the “Chaos Emeralds,” precious stones delivering the power to conquer the world to whoever possesses them. Through their adventures, Sonic and Christopher must battle Sonic’s archrival, the evil Dr. Eggman, a robotics authority, who wants the “Chaos Emeralds” for himself so that he can establish his own empire to dominate the world. Known for speed, power and energy, Sonic helps Christopher overcome his boyhood fears as they meet up with long-time friends Knuckles, Tails and Amy, and encounter new pals Cream and Cheese. In a distant galaxy, the confrontation between Sonic and Dr. Eggman begins once again!
FUNKY COPS Fresh from winning a Best New Animated Series award from the prestigious “Cartoon on the Bay” international animation conference, Funky Cops is 1970’s nostalgia and outrageous comedy! Modeled after ’70’s cop shows, Funky Cops chronicles the adventures of two brothers on the police force who become stars at a San Francisco disco. Brother Ace is the smooth one … The head of a band fashioned after the Jackson Five, Ace used to be a hairdresser before he became a cop. His partner Dick is the Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry-type. The show was created by brothers Christophe and Benoit Di Sabatino and is produced by Antefilm.
SHAMAN KING From the producers of Yu-Gi-Oh! comes the Shaman King. This adventurous series takes place in a world where anything is possible … where spirits and ghosts interact with humans. The main character is a 13-year-old boy who is a modern-day shaman, one of the gifted few who can see the spirit world. His power comes by teaming up with Amidamaru, a samurai warrior spirit. Together they travel the globe fighting evil spirits and misguided shamans on their quest to be the next Shaman King. Each battle prepares them for the once every 500 years “Grand Tournament” that will name the new Shaman King.
CUBIX 4Kids’ first original animated series, Cubix follows the adventures of robot whiz-kid Connor, a 13-year-old who brings to life a robot named Cubix that had been discarded as useless. After Connor gets done, though, Cubix is anything but useless … applying his phenomenal super-charged powers to help Connor and his friends face down the endless stream of threats posed by the town’s wacky mad scientist, the evil Dr. K. Set in the futuristic world of Bubble Town, where 10,000 of its population of 24,000 residents are robots, Cubix is all about action, adventure – and uncommon friendship.
FOX BOX RETURNS…
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES They’re the biggest heroes ever transformed and empowered by globs of weird, glowing green alien ooze. They’re a family filled with love for each other – and committed to battling evil wherever they find it. This new series sets itself apart from the past by staying close to the original comic books’ strong graphics and rich stories, combining serious butt-kicking ninja action and irreverent humor. This exciting series unfolds in a linear fashion, with each episode setting up the next – keeping kids on the edge of their seats!
KIRBY: RIGHT BACK AT YA! One of Nintendo’s most popular characters of all time, Kirby made his U.S. broadcast debut on the FOX BOX. Loaded with action, Kirby is a cosmic comic adventure. Kirby is a Warpstar knight-in-training who crash-lands on the Planet Popstar – and accidentally ends up as the pink protector of villagers. When King Dedede conjures up all his maniacal monsters, Kirby inhales their powers and gives them back a taste of their own medicine! Don’t mess with Kirby. He’ll send it “Right Back at Ya!”
THE CRAMP TWINS They’re sibling rivalry’s twin spokesmen … Meet Wayne and Lucien, a pair of twins with zero in common who have turned Saturday morning television into a raucous laugh fest. Produced by TV-Loonland and based on two graphic novels by Brian Wood, The Cramp Twins is the story of Wayne and Lucien Cramp, 10-year-old twins who are not at all alike. And, that’s not just because Wayne has a big, oval shaped, purplish-gray head, in contrast to Lucien’s small, round, pink head. It goes much deeper, no doubt all the way back to the womb. Delightfully mischievous, Wayne has one mission in life: to embarrass and bother his brother Lucien. His hobbies include eating, stirring up trouble and collecting weird stuff in his bedroom. And then there’s Lucien, eager to please and thoroughly well mannered, he wants to save the world through knitting!
ULTIMATE MUSCLE: THE KINNIKUMAN LEGACY Nothing captures the attention of boys quite like wrestling – and Ultimate Muscle is wrestling at its most radical! Ultimate Muscle pits the powerful but cowardly Kid Muscle in an intergalactic slam-a-rama of fast-paced> excitement and far-out fun. With earth threatened by a sinister and oh-so-muscular band of space baddies, an interplanetary cry for help goes out for a hero to fight off these ne’er do-wells. Reluctantly and accidentally answering the call: Kid Muscle, who must somehow find the courage to compete in a wrestling tournament like none before. In the other corner: hundreds of the most diverse and powerful super-wrestlers that the cosmos has to offer. Oh, yeah, the fate of the universe is at stake, of course! Only one outcome’s for sure: Ultimate Muscle will turn up the action and the laughter.

5-21-03—- ADV To Produce Live Action Evangelion Feature Film
In an announcement sure to make waves in the entertainment industry, ADV Films President and CEO John Ledford today publicly confirmed industry rumors that the firm has acquired the rights to produce, and has already begun development of, a live-action feature-film based on the Japanese animated television series “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” a multi-million dollar worldwide franchise and perhaps the most influential anime title in the history of the art form. The project is a collaboration between ADV Films, Gainax and Weta Workshop, Ltd.
The Participants ADV Films is the leading producer-distributor of Japanese animation in North America. The Japanese anime and game studio Gainax Network Systems was one of the original production studios responsible for “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” and Weta Workshop, Ltd. is the New Zealand-based special effects studio that created the effects for Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
“The three main players here represent something of a ‘dream-team’ for a project like this one,” said Ledford. “Between the quality and significance of the Gainax title, Weta’s industry-leading skill in the creation of special visual effects, and our expertise in the marketing and promotion of anime and anime-related content, this project is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
The Story “Neon Genesis Evangelion” is the story of a reluctant young hero, called upon to pilot an immense robotic weapon in battle against alien invaders. Including both a 26-episode television series and at least two animated motion pictures, “Neon Genesis Evangelion” has long been both a fan favorite and an extraordinary critical and commercial success, with the worldwide franchise producing many millions of dollars in revenue.
Timetable The “Neon Genesis Evangelion” live-action motion picture is in the earliest stages of development. Ledford confirmed, however, that the timetable is an aggressive one, and that more information on the project is forthcoming.
About Weta Workshop, Ltd Founded in 1987 by Richard Taylor, Tania Rodger, Peter Jackson and Jamie Selkirk, Weta is a physical and digital effects company providing creatures, special make-up effects, prosthetics, miniatures, armor, weaponry and digital effects for the film and television industry. Over the past sixteen years the company has provided effects for Jackson’s “Meet the Feebles”, “Braindead” (aka “Dead Alive”), “Heavenly Creatures,” “The Frighteners,” and “The Lord of the Rings” movie trilogy, as well as for advertisements and television shows including the popular “Hercules” and “Xena” series. At the height of production on “The Lord of the Rings,” Weta Workshop employed 150 physical effects technicians and 350 digital effects technicians at Weta Digital. Weta’s work on “The Lord of the Rings” has garnered worldwide praise including two Academy Awards in 2002 (for Best Visual Effects and Best Makeup), and one in 2003 (for Best Visual Effects). The British Academy has also honored Weta’s work by awarding two BAFTAs in 2002 (for Best Visual Effects and Best Makeup) and two more in 2003 (for Best Visual Effects and Best Costume).
About Gainax Gainax was founded in 1984. It began as a corps of amateur filmmakers, centered around current company president Hiroyuki Yamaga and anime director Hideaki Anno. Their first work, “Wings of Honneamise,” continues to garner praise worldwide. Gainax’s highly original style of filmmaking spans the generations, appealing to fans both young and old. 1995’s “Neon Genesis Evangelion” whipped up an anime fever of extraordinary proportions, receiving attention not only from anime fans, but also from many other corners of society. Hideaki Anno, who directed “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” commands respect from even the likes of “Spirited Away” director Hayao Miyazaki.
About ADV Films: In 1992, ADV Films began to forge the international market for Japanese animation (“anime”) by combining unique titles, outstanding production values and efficient large-scale distribution. Today, ADV Films is the #1 producer-distributor of Japanese animation to the North American market, with the firm’s holdings including such premier titles as “NOIR,” “Sailor Moon,” “Samurai X,” “Hello Kitty’s Paradise,” “RahXephon,” “Spriggan,” “Robotech,” “Full Metal Panic” and “Neon Genesis Evangelion.” In addition, ADV Films’ product line has expanded to include other forms of genre programming, including live-action science fiction programs “Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda,” “Mutant X” and The Jim Henson Company’s “Farscape,” and classic science fiction such as the updated “Gamera” trilogy. ADV Films’ parent company, A.D. Vision, Inc., also publishes Newtype USA, the premier anime and manga monthly in the English-speaking world, and operates The Anime Network(tm), broadcasting anime and anime-related programming via digital cable, 24 hours a day. 5-13-02—- Exclusive First Peek At New Monkey Punch Anime Project: Cinderella Boy
Cinderella Boy a new TV Anime series created by Monkey Punch will begin airing in Japan on June 21st on the satellite channel Anime Theater X. Monkey Punch will also work as a supervisor for the show. Most anime fans will surely see a connection between gCinderella Boyh and Takahashi Rumikofs gRanma 1/2h, as the main character in both series is named Ranma and changes gender (to rule out the possibility of this being coincidence, Ranma is an extremely rare name in Japan, and both characters use the same Kanji, Chinese characters, for his name). As Lupin III fans know, this is not the first time that Monkey Punch has used a famous character name and some attributes as a starting point for building his own highly original works, his most famous character, Lupin III, used the famous French literary character of Arsene Lupin as a base (Lupin III is the grandson of Arsene Lupin). The following is a translation of the Japanese series explanation on the Anime Theater X page:
gGiraffe Town, the city with the worldfs highest crime rate, Ranma and Rera open the R&R Detective Agency. While on one of their cases, someone is trying to kill them and arranges for their gaccidentalh deathc They survived, but something strange happened. In the Middle of the night, at the stroke of 12, Ranmafs body disappears in a transformation and becomes Rera. The two share one body! Ranma and Rera, what will happen to them!? Then, Alice, a mysterious woman appears before Ranmac what is her purpose!? Now, let the sparkling action and comedy begin!!h
