6-30-03---- Gunslinger Girl Anime Confirmed

Courtesy Kenjo, information coming from a piece published in the June issue of the magazine Dengeki Animaga would seem to indicate an animated adaptation of the popular sleeve of Yu Aida, Gunslinger Girl is already entering production in Japan, confirming the rumors that for more of a year had been generated around this project. The story occurs in a future where an intelligence service supported by the Ministry the International of Health and Well-being seeks out females fulfilling certain physical and psychological qualities. Upon finding the one, her physical form is then augmented with cybernetic limbs etc.. Under the trusteeship of the intelligence services, these girls are trained in the handling of firearms, explosives, vehicles and communication systems, serving like spies or assassins. Behind unassuming expressions these youngsters endure mental hell of their previous existance. More details on the staff, seiyuu and format of this interesting project will be published in the next issue of Dengeki Animaga.

6-30-03---- AX Benneficial Role

The Whittier Daily News has a mention of beneficial role of the coming Anime Expo 2003 convention. According to the writeup, AX will be benefiting the City of Hope in Duarte.

Animation and comic-book artists will present a 6-foot signed and illustrated check to the City of Hope for its fight against pediatric cancer. Open to the public, the four-day show features the best of Japanese animation and comic book masters and top animation artists in the world. It will include a live auction at 3 p.m. July 6, also to benefit the City of Hope. The City of Hope is one of the world's leading research and treatment centers for cancer and other serious diseases. 6-30-03---- Toei Seeks Return Of Reportedly Stolen Cels

A work company appeals against "Mandarake." - Tokyo District Court. The warehouse of an animation work company "TOEI animation" (Tokyo Nerima-ward) was robbed of celluloid of popular TV animation "Sailormoon" etc. in large quantities in May, last year. In relation to this incident, "TOEI animation" caused the lawsuit which asks for return to Tokyo District Court to the major company old book selling contractor "Mandarake" (Nakano-ward) by whom celluloid was carried in by June 26. A TOEI animation side "these are important property. It is saying that I want you to return these." [(Jiji-tsuushin) June 27]
