eigoMANGA

By Jonah Morgan

On Monday (July 12) of this week, eigoMANGA first announced the San Jose Art Museum (www.sjmusart.org) will launch a new exhibit from July 26 during an opening night gala. Titled "Art of the Zines," this exhibit will include eigoMANGA's Rumble Pak as one of its premiere highlights. Copies of Rumble Pak's Issue #1 would be available for museum patrons to enjoy. The San Jose Art Museum's invitation to display an eigoMANGA publication is a great honor- no other manga has been in a museum exhibit before. The exhibit will run until October 3. ANS caught up with company for a brief interview on the exhibit opening:

1. This is the first venture into the museum exhibit arena for eigoMANGA, can you tell us how the collaboration came about for Rumble Pak to be entered into the showing?

A museum representative approached us at a comic book convention after receiving a copy of Rumble Pak inviting us to participate in their museum exhibition. Several weeks later, we followed up with them and it reiterated their interest. They said it would be a great attention to their exhibition.

2. Are the plans for the exhibit to be a 1 city show or travel outside of San Jose?

As far as I know, it's only an exhibition in the San Jose Art Museum until the end of October. After that the publication will be on permanent display in some other museum within the Bay Area.

3. Does eigoMANGA have any plans or desire to enter into future exhibits.

Yes, we would love to have exhibitions in other museums, particularly the San Francisco Cartoon Art Museum.

4. Can you give us the mueseum admission and contact details.
