"It's something of a coup to have Princess Iron Fan, the film that kick-started the anime business after its release in wartime Tokyo -- made in occupied Shanghai, it convinced the Japanese Navy that there might be some future in animation, leading to the funding of the first anime feature. It also inspired the young Osamu Tezuka in his choice of career. Of particular interest to Miyazaki fans is Grandma and her Ghosts, made in the wake of the Taiwanese release of My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service.
