ANS also received this followup to the above post by fan Guilherme in Brazil:
Well, about the broadcast in Brazil, I think Anihabara made a confusion. The episodes in Brazil follow the same order of the japaneses. That means that here we had the (about) 7 first episodes before the appearence of Li Shoaran in the anime, cut in EUA.
The first brazilian season of Sakura include the all first season japanese and a about 10 episodes of the second season of Japan. Here, the episodes is airing on TVs for the second time. And the episodes of the second japanese season restarted today...
Cartoon Network in Brazil, unfortanely, is making a mess about the episiodes of Pokémon Johto Journeys. I think it's because of the (I don't know the name "dublagem" in English, I think it is...) "dub" is late.
In Brazil, of Sailor Moon we just saw in the brazilian TVs the "Sailor Moon" saga and "Sailor Moon R". Now we are waiting for Sailor Moon S in Cartoon Network...I wonder if they'll do that...
Do you know here the episodes of animes is on TV from Monday to Friday? The same e-mail I'm sending to Anihabara.

Toonami, Cartoon Network's action-adventure programming block, is bringing 6 additional Japanese animated series to U.S. audiences in 2001, adding almost 250 new episodes to the Toonami library including 96 episodes of Dragon Ball Z. Also in 2001, Cartoon Network will introduce a Toonami CD and present Toonami: Lockdown – Toonami's second "Total Immersion Cartoon" event. The new series for 2001 include Outlaw Star, Big O, Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam 8's, Pilot Candidate and Dragonball (guess that means that Justice League and ReBoot: Season Three will come a little later in the year). In addition, Cartoon Network has acquired 96 additional episodes of Dragon Ball Z. The new episodes which include the King Kai Saga, the Tenkaichi-Budoukai Saga and the Majin Buu Saga are scheduled to begin airing on Cartoon Network in September.
This year, Cartoon Network and Rhino Records will release a Toonami CD featuring the popular drum and bass music heard throughout the Toonami action-adventure block. The CD is scheduled to hit shelves early this fall.
Following the success of 2000's Toonami: The Intruder, this year Tom (the computer generated host of Toonami) will experience Toonami: Lockdown, a week-long "Total Immersion Cartoon" event airing Sept. 17-21 during Toonami. As with last year's event, viewers will be able to interact with Toonami: Lockdown as it unfolds both on-air and online. Cartoon Network Online's Toonami.com website will offer exclusive games, behind-the-scenes data and contest entry.
A new animated series from Genndy Tartakovsky is also coming to the network this summer. Samurai Jack will debut in August 2001 with a special 90-minute premiere complete with 26 30-minute episodes.
SAMURAI JACK tells the story of a great warrior displaced to the distant future by the evil shape-shifting wizard Aku. The world has become a bleak place under the rule of Aku, segregated into fantastic tribes and ruled by Aku's evil robot warlords. SAMURAI JACK travels this foreign landscape in search of a time portal that can return him to his home. In addition to exotic cities and strange cultures, SAMURAI JACK will also encounter modern urban landscapes and all their trappings, such as flying cars, huge skyscrapers and even techno music. Through it all, Jack relies upon his strength and mental acuity to help him tackle each episode's challenges.
A man of few words, SAMURAI JACK speaks mostly with his expressive eyes. The centerpiece of SAMURAI JACK will be its stylized action scenes, but the show will also contain elements of humor as the protagonist adapts to the travails of modern life, such as finding a suitable replacement for his worn-out Samurai sandals. Don't worry, Genndy's also working on 13 new episodes of his brainchild, Dexter's Laboratory later in the year.
In non-Toonami news (but while we're covering CN, let's give it a chance), there is a grim and evil presence coming to the network in October. GRIM & EVIL, created by Maxwell Atoms, will in October 2001. Six 30-minute episodes of the series will be produced by Cartoon Network Studios (six . . . SIX?!?). GRIM & EVIL will be comprised of two cartoons from Maxwell Atoms, THE GRIM ADVENTURES OF BILLY & MANDY, the winner of last year's "Big Pick" contest (yeah, they're going to it again the week of August 24-26, 2001 with the Big Pick II) and EVIL CON CARNE. In June, history takes a strange twist on Time Squad, a 26-episode series chronicling the adventures of a group of time cops led by Officer Buck Tuddrussel, an overzealous tough guy who loves being in charge, the Larry 3000, a know-it-all robot who thinks his new job, maintaining Time Squad's history surveillance equipment, and an eight-year-old orphan named Otto Osworth, the brains and conscience of the group, who gets to realize his greatest dream by living history, not just reading about it. History goes haywire in the year 100 Million and it's up to these guys to set things straight. This series is created by Dave Wasson, best known for his funny-as-all-get-out short, Max and His Special Problem. Source: http://cnxtoonami.cjb.net/

Anime: A Guide To Japanese Animation - Protoculture Addicts magazine presents the most essential anime reference in English: a filmography of the first 30 years of anime in Japan! This comprehensive volume covers all the anime produced in Japan during the Sixties, the Seventies and most of the Eighties -- including not only the movies and OVAs, but also the TV series and not only those that were popular or translated in English, but even the most obscure anime! It offers over 300 pages of information and lists chronologically over 1,200 titles, from Astro Boy to Akira! Each notice gives the original title, its literal translation, production company, category (adventure, comedy, sci-fi, etc.), duration or number of episodes, release or airing date, distribution company, as well as a short description and commentary. The notice is preceded by an identification number (to facilitate research in the indexes) and its type (Series, Movie, OVA, Special). Each year is introduced, highlighting the themes or titles that marked that particular year. The book also has several indexes to make any research easy. If you are looking for any information about the early years of anime (Who animated Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro? When was Mazinger produced? How many episode Marine Boy had? etc.), you will most probably find it in this book. There is no other English-language reference work detailing how animation started in Japan!
Anime: A Guide To Japanese Animation. Written by Andrea Baricordi, Massimiliano De Giovanni, Andrea Pietroni, Barbara Rossi, and Sabrina Tunesi; translated from the Italian by Adeline D'Opera and presented by Claude J. Pelletier. SC, 320 pages, B&W, ISBN 2-9805759-0-9. $25.00 US/Can.

Nelvana introduces stellar lineup of new daytime and primetime animation series at MIP-TV Company adds high-powered Japanese anime series to roster of youth programs TORONTO, Feb. 20 - Nelvana, the world's leading independent producer and distributor of animation programming, continues to strengthen its roster of daytime and primetime entertainment with the addition of the company's second Japanese anime TV series and a weekly nighttime network comedy.
At MIP-TV, Nelvana International will debut the futuristic Medabot: Techno Robot Battle Adventures, a high-powered action-adventure series for six- to 12-year olds, featuring over 375 robots, lots of techno wizardry and promising merchandising potential. The company holds the worldwide distribution and merchandise licensing rights (excluding Italy and Asia) to the Japanese anime series, produced by NAS/Kodansha in association with TV Tokyo. Nelvana also has North American and U.K. distribution and merchandise licensing rights to the hit CLAMP/Kodansha/NEP21-produced Cardcaptors, now airing on Kids' WB! and Teletoon.
Medabot tells the story of ``good guys'' Ikki, Metabee, Rokusho, Koji and Arika and ``bad guys'' Fishface, Calamari, Gillguy and Squidguts, pitted in a world where robots rule with super-charged brawn and brains, brought to life with special pieces of hardware called ``medallions''.
Nelvana International will also highlight the charming kids series, Pecola. Co-produced by Nelvana with Japan's Milky Cartoon and Yomiko Advertising in association with Teletoon, Pecola is the third production from Nelvana's state-of-the-art 3D facility in Toronto.
Among the other youth-targeted animated programming that Nelvana will spotlight prominently at MIP-TV are: Miniman, a new co-production with Spain's Cromosoma; the much-anticipated Doctor Dolittle, the classic story of the world's most famous doctor with a special gift for talking to animals; John Callahan's Pelswick, a landmark series showcasing, for the first time, a child in a wheelchair as the star; Braceface, a 26-episode pre-teen series for Fox Family Channel which features the voice of Alicia Silverstone from ``Clueless''; Cyberchase, a new 26-episode interactive and educational series produced for PBS in association with WNET, and Brian Jacques' Redwall, an epic and superbly designed series in the spirit of Harry Potter. Based on the best-selling books by author Brian Jacques, Redwall is a continuing serial set against the backdrop of a faraway English land in a time long ago. The series is currently being co-produced with Germany's TV-Loonland.
Nelvana International, which celebrates 30 animated years in 2001, will also promote its well-known evergreen performers Franklin and Little Bear, as well as the top-rated PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch, a block of six book-based preschool shows now airing on the U.S. public broadcast network. Babar, jointly licensed by Nelvana and The Clifford Ross Company, celebrates his 70th Anniversary in October as one of the world's most popular and enduring brands. Major merchandising and promotional events are planned throughout the year, including special celebrations in Paris and Tokyo.
In addition to the company's slate of youth programming, Nelvana International will highlight its growing lineup of primetime animation, including the new Committed, a series for Fox Family Channel in the U.S. and CTV in Canada. Featuring the voices of Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Andrea Martin and Dave Foley, Committed is based on the popular cartoon strip by Michael Fry. Also high on the list of unique nighttime programming for adults is John Callahan's Quads!, ``cartoon noir'' that takes TV to a new level with its searing and witty look at the world of the physically and mentally challenged through the eyes of a cast of misfits living in a boarding house, and Bob and Margaret, a 52-episode show co-produced with PAGI that stars a married English couple in the throes of mid-life crisis.
In pre-market company news, Nelvana International has licensed the TV rights for Cardcaptors to ITV and Nickelodeon in the U.K. and RTE in Ireland. Nelvana International has acquired the U.K. merchandise licensing rights to the high-profile children's brand. Additionally, Braceface and Franklin have been tapped for TV in the U.K. and Netherlands by Fox.
In France, Franklin continues to grow significantly as a major international children's property with the recent direct-to-video release of Franklin and the Green Knight by TF1 Video. Over 45,000 units of the 90-minute movie have been sold in the market since November, complementing the young turtle's strong TV performance in France on TF1.
Other recent French sales include Braceface and John Callahan's Pelswick to France 3, as well as Maggie and the Ferocious Beast and George Shrinks to Sony Music for home video release.
In Japan, Nelvana's partnership with Kodansha will generate the publication of at least 10 Babar books in 2001, including a continuing serial in two of the multi-media company's consumer magazines. Babar: King of the Elephants debuts on NHK this year, and Franklin, Little Bear and Elliot Moose are now airing on Japan's TV Asahi's digital satellite channel.
In Spanish-speaking markets, Nelvana International has licensed new episodes of the popular Little Bear series to Spain's La Forta. In Portugal, SIC has taken Braceface, co-produced with Jade Animation for TV broadcast. In Italy, Maggie and the Ferocious Beast has been acquired by Mediaset.
In Latin America, Nelvana International has licensed Franklin to TV Globo in Brazil, as well as Babar and Franklin to Tycoon in Mexico for home video. Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, the top-rated preschool series on Nick Jr. in the U.S., has been picked up by Nickelodeon Latin America, which will begin airing the popular show in July. The company has also inked a long-term pan- regional agreement with Telerey, S.A. de C. V. Mine goes a little more in-depth of how ROBOTECH actually came to be, with a short story about how much it affected the face of Anime fandom back in the 80's.
Pioneer, the North American distributor of Serial Experiments Lain, will be publishing bôa's first American effort with the release of Twilight, an album compiling most of their released material to date. Some of bôa's established fans may be put off by the decision to rely on old material for their domestic debut, but nonetheless, the album should serve as a great way to introduce new fans to the band, as well as offer fans that had been wary of the expense involved in importing a chance to pick up a comprehensive compilation of their previous material. The track list for Twilight, including the entirety of The Race of a Thousand Camels and selections from the Tall Snake EP, is as follows:
Duvet
Twilight
Fool
Rain
Elephant
Scoring
Deeply
One Day
Welcome
For Jasmine
Anna Maria
Duvet (acoustic version)
Little Miss
Drinking
The noted absence of Two Steps, as well as the DJ Wasei mix of Duvet, is made up for by the inclusion of the previously unpublished Drinking, arguably one of their best songs and a nice treat for long time bôa fans looking for something new - and not having been satisfied with the low quality sample that was posted on bôa's official site. During their appearance at Otakon last August, early 2001 was estimated for the release of this first domestic album, but the original January 23rd release date has since been pushed back to March 27th, the album being set to retail for $17.97.
To help promote Twilight, bôa will be performing live at a number of local LA clubs between April 2nd and 9th. More details and dates should be available soon. Promotional tours are planned to accompany all subsequent releases as well, the next album, featuring all new material, tentatively scheduled for an October 2001 release.
Vision of Escaflowne has finished airing all its episodes on YTV (except for the first episode which was skipped). Also, just to note, there was some content in the show which was not edited that most parents would find "questionable" but I guess this content was not edited because it was crucial to the story.
The new season of Sakura Card Captors is going to begin on February 21!! InBrazil is currently benn shown the Johto Journeys. The new episodes of Sailor Moon are coming gere too!
