From November 27'th, VOX continues with Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV complete) merged, to 6 movies.
On Nov. 15 VOX will broadcast Plastic Little (German dubbed), 11-22, Kite (German dubbed) and on 11-29 Tekken (German dubbed).
In December, VOX plans also to broadcast two special Anime Nights. The first one on 12-01 will feature the Macross Movie and Macross 2, both subtitled in German. The second Anime night will be held on 12-08, titled "Best of Japanese TV Animation".
On November 1st Cartoon Network Brazil has begun to show Sailor Moon R and Card Captura Sakura. Both shows are dubbed in portuguese but are uncut as far I can say. CCS name was inverted. The name of the show here is "Sakura Card Captor". Sailor Moon R as happened in the first season uses brazilian adaptations of the characters names but CCS uses all the japanese original names (Sakura Tomoyo Yukito Kero etc). The opening and ending songs in CCS use the japanese music but lyrics are translated to portuguese. Others anime shows currently being shown in Brazilian TV include Pokemon Digimon, El-Hazard TV, Dragonball Z, Tonde Boorin (my favorite under the name "Super Pig"). A kind of obscure cable station has shown Neon Genesis Evangelion, Saber Marionette J, Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, Those Who Hunt Elves and a few others.

FUNimation has sent out the following press release detailing upcoming Dragonball action figures:

The Fall press release is an orverview of the action figures that are already in stores. Also preview four new DBZ Series 16 action figures soon to be in stores!
ALL-NEW 5" DRAGONBALL ACTION FIGURES ANNOUNCED State-of-art articulation and micro-finish detailing bring new 5" figures to life.
Irwin Toy Limited, master North American licensee for Dragonball Z Action Figures, announced today the debut date of an all-new, super-tech series of 5" action figures scheduled for introduction in the U.S. and Canada by mid-summer. Along with the much anticipated release, the company also plans a roll-out of accessories including a Rejuvenation Chamber, Flying Nimbus Cloud, Die-Cast Vehicles with Collectable Capsule.
The explosive success of the re-launch of the Japanese animé series last September on Cartoon Network and YTV Canada; and the resultant, dramatic rise in U.S. and Canadian sales of the current Dragonball Z action figure series, set the design wheels in motion at Canada's largest toy manufacturer and distributor late last year.
"We had a real challenge on our hands" said George Irwin, President and CEO at Irwin Toy. "There's massive popularity in the characters of this series and we were determined to catch the wave. That meant one of the fastest turnovers in the company's history, and we are more than just happy about the results. These new action figures are incredibly life-like!"
The first pre-production samples were unveiled to the executive at the company's headquarters in Toronto earlier this month. The figures represent the first, completely new designs since the Asian premiere of the product in the late 80's.
The company has taken full advantage of the revolution in manufacturing technologies during the past decade. The new figures feature full articulation and extremely high detailing which is especially noticeable in the faces of the new 5" series. Company spokesmen pointed out the unique challenges of putting into three-dimensional form, the nuances of two-dimensional, animated illustrations.
"The goal was to design something completely new from the ground up. We worked closely with the manufacturers to get just the right cast to the eyes and capture the nuances of each character's face. We wanted there to be an instant recognition factor here, and we believe we've come as close to this as is possible in the translation."
Sophisticated articulation is also a hallmark with the new 5" Dragonball Z series.
Micro-painted finishes are also very much in evidence. Clothing colours and flesh-tones, feature pin-point accuracy which give each of the new figures a further dimension of realism.
"Clothing looks like clothing and skin tones have natural variances. It's surprising just how much more 'alive' this makes the figures." said Marketing Vice-President, Francess Wells-Cunningham.
Roll-out of the all-new 5" action figure series is slated for late August 2000. Character introductions will be matched to the episode instalments. As new characters make their appearance on Cartoon Network in the U.S. and Canada's YTV, the matching action figures will debut in stores nation-wide.
Select action figures in the all-new 5" series will also be available in a deluxe edition featuring ejecting 'energy balls' along with accessories including a Flying Nimbus Cloud. The battery operated Cloud uses real 'hovercraft' technology to glide across surfaces.
Supporting the introduction, Irwin Toy plans a series of new television commercials which will begin airing in Fall 2000. New packaging, P.O.P. materials and special events will support the introductions at the retailer level.
With the new figures now imminent, the company is also focussing attention on another phenomenon of the action figure market - collectablitiy. The present series is now out of production and goes Silver this summer. Kids and adults alike will be hunting out characters to complete their collections. Advises the company: "this is the best time for anyone wanting to complete their original Dragonball Z collections!"
Dear Kevin,
Hi, my name's Steve and I'm the Webmaster at Harmony Gold. Our legal department was about to send you a notice about your website, valkrie-exchange.com, and I was able to convince them to let me email you first before they sent a Notice of Infringement.
As I understand it, you're taking preorders for the Toycom Macross Plus fighters. Your site says "International Orders Welcome!" and in several places mentions the discussions between Harmony Gold and Big West as if they only pertain to US licensing. I hope you understand first of all that the discussions between Big West and Harmony Gold concern worldwide licensing outside of Japan, as Harmony Gold holds the exclusive license to all Macross-related materials outside of Japan. This includes toys, and means that Valkyrie Exchange (or any other company) can't legally ship the Macross Plus fighters outside of Japan as well as domestically. Please make that clear on your website.
I therefore have to ask you to stop taking any pre-orders. Until the discussions with Big West have ended, anyone who is taking preorders for these toys causes a slowdown in talks because we have to investigate and confirm that none are being shipped. If it turns out that even one toy was shipped outside of Japan through a distribution channel, it would throw an enormous monkey wrench into negotiations. Please understand that we can't just take everyone's word for it when they say that they haven't shipped or received any. There were some rumors that Yamato had shipped a limited amount of them outside of Japan, and we're looking into that. If you're aware of anyone else taking preorders, please pass this information onto them also. It will make both Harmony Gold's and Big West's negotiations quicker and easier.
As I'm not a lawyer, I'm not sure about what the specific legal issues are, but I know that you're a big fan of Macross and because of that I thought that you deserved to get a friendly email asking you to stop taking preorders rather than a legal notice demanding that you stop. As for a resolution, at this point we really don't know how long the negotiations between BW and HG will go on. I know that everyone wants to get these Macross Plus toys as soon as possible, and HG has been trying to reach an agreeable solution as quickly as possible.

Right after we got our PS2 for testing DVDs, the first thing I b*tch'ed about was the video output quality. Personally, I think it's atrocious. To be fair though, I could only test its composite out section, since S-Video or component adaptors didn't come with it.
Second, which is much more technical in nature, is how it works with system registers. These things are called SPRMs and GPRMs, which are crucial for certain kinds of coding, and for some bizarre reason, how PS2 (and many low-end machines made by other co's) works with them can at best be described as...um.. funky. The weird thing is, based on some tests I've done, the Japanese PS2 behaves differently (read: better).
What this basically means is that, it just makes DVD programming a living h*ll (...it's a nightmare now!).

The theme song single to this new series "STORM" goes on sale Dcember 21st at 971 Yen from King Records.
I was reading the latest issue of Ultra Jump that just came out (yes, I am currently in Japan) and was surprised when I turned to the ad for the next issue in the back of the manga. It was a double page spread announcing that the sequel to Battle Angel Alita (or Gunnm as it is known here) will begin in Ultra Jump later this month. The new series will be titled LAST ORDER and will go on sale here in Ultra Jump on 11/18. A B&W image of Alita was prominently featured in the ad. Looks great!

YTV Anime Newsletter #4 (November 2000)
The new Sunday Sailor Moon airing is repeating the DiC episodes from episode 1, instead of episode 31 where they left off in September when they started with the new episodes.
Hi There!
In order to deal with the volume of e-mails we receive from viewers asking about YTV's anime programs, we have created this special bulletin packed full of up to date information. Please understand that we receive thousands of e-mails a week and this is the easiest way to address all of your questions.
Fall is an exciting time at YTV with lots going on. Our Fall schedule officially started on September 11, 2000. For those of you that were watching on September 4, 2000 what you saw was a special sneak preview for our new Fall schedule. Complete schedule information can be found by visiting our website at http:/www.ytv.com
Although we will have a new schedule, that doesn't mean that we always have new episodes. For many of our anime programs we have been experiencing an interrupted delivery schedule. This means that we do not have all episodes ready and waiting to air. Therefore, you probably won't be seeing a new episode every day. Don't worry though, we'll get them in the schedule as soon as we receive them from our distributor. At this point it is hard for us to tell you exactly what episodes we have, so you'll have to keep watching to ensure you're watching the new episodes. Please remember that all schedules are subject to change without notice.
Now read on to see what's happening with your favourite anime shows......
SAILOR MOON:
GOOD NEWS 'Sailor Moon' fans, effective October 30th, YTV has added an extra timeslot. Beginning that week you can now catch 'Sailor Moon' on Tuesday at 6:30pm E/P, Saturday at 3:00pm and 3:30pm E/P, and on Sunday at 1:30pm E/P.

Many of you have complained about the new voice of 'Sailor Moon' this season. We are sorry if these new 'Sailor Moon' episodes have fallen short of your expectations. This means we are not responsible for the voices, translations, theme music, etc. We hope that you can understand that we air the series in the format in which it is received from the distributor.
When producing and editing a series such as 'Sailor Moon', it is not uncommon for some changes to occur from season to season. For instance, voice actors may choose to discontinue their work with the program, which of course means that new actors need to be hired. We can totally understand how frustrating such changes are to the fans of the show, however like in all areas of television, sometimes such changes are unavoidable! You may want to try contacting Voice Stars with your concern, they can be contacted at www.voicestars.com. They are responsible for many of the 'Sailor Moon' voices.
