New from Bandai Visual in Japan is an upcoming TV anime titled Earth Defense Family, it is described as an Earthbound comedy with Sci-fi elements. The series focuses on a postmodern - somewhat typical Japanese family living in a Chiba Pref. apartment house. A Salaryman computer programmer dad grapples with the collapse of the family home structure and possible divorce. A mysterious FAX is received reading "Defend The Earth", and sbsequently a mysterious object crash lands nearby. Broadcast starts on WoWoW scramble January 9th - 18:30 - 19:00. Directing is Satoshi Kimura.

The 4-CD vocal themes collection Card Captor Sakura Complete Vocal Collection goes on sale in Japan Feb. 21st at 7800 Yen. CLAMP provides the jacket illustration for the collection.

A Card Captor Sakura i-Mode game is being released by Kodansha in early Dec., member registration is necessary for the use of this service.

An event in advance of the public theatrical opening of the live-action film Shiki Jitsu, directed by Hideaki Anno, will take place December 6th in Japan. Featured will be photos from a "PHOTO CONTEST' surrounding the film.

Japan's Yomiuri Newspaper printed this summary of a series of monumental business moves by Japan's NTT DoCoMo yesterday. The company's tie up with AT&T Corp, acquiring a 16 percent stake in Wireless Group, a mobile phone division of the U.S. telecommunications giant, for 1.08 trillion yen (9.8 billion dollars) will lay the groundwork for the possible introduction of new technology in the U.S., including NTT's i-Mode mobile phone internet service.

We just spoke to Jess of Toycom and it appears that the Macross Plus Valkyries are NOT going to be released within the next 6-12 months over here in the US. We don't have much details but our understanding is that the licensing dispute won't be resolved until this timeframe.

Representatives from Harmony Gold and Big West met about a week ago and this was the outcome of the meeting. Based on past delays of these toys, our best guess is that we'd be very LUCKY to see them by next Christmas. That is IF the licensing negotiations are resolved by then...

At a press conference in Japan today plans for a 4th Pokemon animated theatrical feature were announced. With the roughly translated title of 'The Encounter Which Exceeds Time', the film will feature the voice talent of guest seiyuu along with Kumiko Endou. Yuyama Kunihiko will be directing. The 4th Pokemon Movie opens nationwide across Japan on July 7th, 2001.

Japanese publisher Kodansha is planning to launch an English language website in order to provide easier access to information about the company and their products to foreign publishers and fans. The site will be up and running soon at www.kodanclub.com. C.B. Cebulski of Fanboy Entertainment recently had the opportunity to view a test version of the site and mentioned on Fanboy's site that it is rather nice, being clear, easy to navigate, packed with information about the company and their products, and has beautiful images provided by many of the artists that publish with Kodansha. Their foreign manga publishing endeavors are also spotlighted. It also gives fans a look onto some of the manga that are currently being published in Japan that they can hope to see in the future in English and other foreign languages.

Kia Asamiya has informed Fanboy Entertainment that the Studio Tron Website that he and Mr. Michitaka Kikuchi share had been redesigned, revamped and relaunched. It now has much more information about all their projects, new and old, as well as images in the new gallery sections. The site is in Japanese but features English buttons.

A new Doraemon usb computer mouse from Shogakukan goes on sale in Japan December 8th at the retail price of 6300 Yen. The 'Doramouse' is shaped like the famous blue cat character of the classic manga and anime series, via USB connectivity it can be used with Win 98 PCs and OS 8.51 Macs.

11-29-00---- Bandai News

At this past weekend's Aka-Kon in Vancouver, Bandai Entertainment announced that Bandai America is developing a new collectible card game for Gundam Wing called Gundam MS War. The card game is not to be confused with the Japanese Gundam CCG as the one released for North America will be very different in gameplay, etc. over the Japanese version. Further detaisl on the game are pending. Bandai also revealed a duplication warehouse mistake with vol. 6 and 7 of Gundam Wing where the VHS releases of those volumes are lacking proof of purchase cards needed for the redemption of the Gundam Wing action figure that corresponded with v.5/v.6/v.7 The following statement has been posted to the Bandai Entertainment website:

Dear Valued Customer,

Due to a packaging error, the initial run of Gundam Wing VHS Vol. 6 and 7 (SKU #s 1625, 1626, 1655, 1656) were packaged without the proof of purchase cards. To remedy this situation we have changed the qualifying requirements to redeem the action figure for these specific VHS volumes. They are as follows:

1) You may send in a receipt for Volumes 6 and 7 showing that you purchased the required videos, along with the proof of purchase card for Volume 5. Be sure to circle the video titles and/or price on the receipt. OR
2) You may send in the UPC code from the box for Volumes 6 and 7, or a legible photocopy of the videocover’s back, along with the proof of purchase card for Volume 5. OR
3) You may send in the proof of purchase cards if you received them for Volumes 5, 6, and 7.

You must only meet one of the above three options to qualify for the free action figure.
