eigoMANGA’s publisher, CEO, and founder Austin Osueke will be at JTAF during the Sunday of September 14 from 11:00am to 12:00pm. He will be apart of the eigoMANGA discussion panel. He feels with this is an important platform and opportunity for the industry awareness and perception of eigoMANGA.
“For many years, fans and companies in the industry have been mystified with us to the point where they question if we’re worth the effort to pay attention to. Because of our many projects that missed our branding objective over the years many people only have small bits or inaccurate information about us; and with it they form their perception about the company as a whole. THIS is a good opportunity for everyone in the industry to clearly understand what we are all about. eigoMANGA is not a whistle in the wind; we are here to stay and we will earn a substantial place within the comic book industry and in the hearts of the fans” says Osueke.
eigoMANGA has earned the industry acclaim for being amongst the first, innovative, and leading companies to produce dot-comics on the internet during the internet boom. eigoMANGA has long since moved out of being a web-based business and because of that the company now has an opportunity to earn addition recognition as being amongst the first and leading US-based comic book companies to create a new genre within the manga industry(Japanese-influenced comics): American manga. The company will officially announce the releasing of its premier publication series: eigoMANGA RUMBLE PAK and eigoMANGA IMPACT at the JTAF during its panel discussion forum.
eigoMANGA RUMBLE PAK is a monthly anthology comic book series portraying original manga stories created by American artists and creators; the series is due for retail release in November 2003. eigoMANGA IMPACT is a trade paper back series portraying original manga works created by international artist; this series is due for limited release in October 2003.
“We feel that the comics in RUMBLE PAK and IMPACT represent the advent of a new breed of talented American manga artists. The visually striking artwork and compelling storylines in these comic books will put to rest any to rest any stigma that Americans can't compete with Japanese manga” claims Osueke.
eigoMANGA’s appearance at the Japan Town Anime Faire is the first of many major platforms that will break down the wall that kept the industry from clearly understanding eigoMANGA and that also kept eigoMANGA from portraying its full strength to the comic book entertainment world. “I can’t wait! This are gonna work out great!” triumphs Austin Osueke.

ManiaFest is benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica--a great event for a great cause.
Los Angeles (August 19, 2003) – Giving fans what they have long desired, Mania Entertainment, publisher of Cinescape magazine and producer of the Cinescape Saturn Awards, has announced the launch of ManiaFest (www.maniafest.com), showcasing the best in science fiction, fantasy and horror filmmaking while uniting luminaries in the field to honor the imaginative spirit of the genre through panels and other platforms. The four-day celebration, to benefit Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica, will take place in the heart of Santa Monica (with festival headquarters at the Laemmle Theatre on 2nd Street), from September 18-21, 2003.
Presented in association with Cinescape, the festival will offer ongoing daily screenings of genre favorites, film premieres, and short and feature-length films from up-and-coming filmmakers. Each day will be sculpted around a theme, such as “Masters of Horror” day, CrossGen Comic’s “Comic Books to Film” day, and TokyoPop’s “Anime” day. Leading industry panelists confirmed to take part include Spider-Man creator Stan Lee, Hellraiser director Clive Barker, Blade II director Guillermo del Toro, X-Men screenwriter David Hayter, The Scorpion King director Chuck Russell, Night of the Living Dead writer/director George Romero, Batman executive producer Michael Uslan and Cabin Fever director Eli Roth, to name a few.
Folowing a VIP event – including a sunset dinner and beach screening of genre favorite Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home – the festival will officially kick off on September 18th. ManiaFest 2003 will be opened and closed, respectively, by the west coast premiere of Beyond Re-Animator and the world premiere of Monster Man, both distributed by Lions Gate Films. In-between are a notable slate of festival films including Ghost in the Shell, Junkers Come Here, Cowboy Bebop, Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro, Akira, Predator, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hellraiser, Night of the Living Dead, Pumpkinhead, Batman, Blade, The Mask, Superman, Flash Gordon and Terminator.
“The goal of ManiaFest is not only to honor the great science fiction, fantasy and horror filmmakers of the past and present, but to discover the next generation of talent who exemplify the creative spirit of the genre,” said Chip Meyers, CEO of Mania Entertainment.
A talent competition will showcase the year’s best amateur-produced short films, screenplays and feature-length films. The top finalists will earn $12,000 in cash and prizes, their films will be screened throughout the festival, and winning amateur filmmakers will be honored at ManiaFest’s closing ceremony. The deadline for film submissions is August 23, 2003. Judges include such industry luminaries as writer/director Mick Garris, CAA agent Jonathan Levin, Vice Chairman of Paxson Communications Jeff Sagansky, Lions Gate president of home entertainment, acquisitions and new media Peter Block and VP of Phoenix Pictures Brad Fischer, just to name a few.
“We believe that ManiaFest will soon become the ‘Sundance Film Festival’ of the science fiction, fantasy and horror genre,” said Chase Masterson, Festival Chairwoman. “ManiaFest has been developed to unite the limitless creativity of genre filmmaking and the spirit of our dedicated audience.”
ManiaFest will conclude Sunday, September 21st with an event at Schatzi on Main Street in Santa Monica. In addition to the bestowal of the first annual Maniac Awards to the top winners of the filmmaker’s talent competition, the evening will honor special effects icon Stan Winston, creator of the animatronic wonders in Jurassic Park and The Terminator, who will be given the first annual ManiaFest Lifetime Achievement Award. Winston’s films, including Terminator, Predator and his directorial endeavor Pumpkinhead, will be featured throughout the weekend.
With an accompanying software application entitled AIBO MIND (on 32 MB Memory Stick® media bundled with the ERS-7), the ERS-7 will allow owners to interact with the robot in numerous ways. For example, AIBO enthusiasts will be able to enjoy interacting with a more fluid autonomous robot via voice and tactile touch sensors, along with the ability to remotely access the robot and retrieve digital images on their PC via e-mail commands or an Internet browser (PC Wi-Fi connection required). Additionally, later this year ERA will make available a new tool for the ERS-7 entitled AIBO Custom Manager (ACM). With ACM, owners will be able to add new content, via the Web, to their AIBO Mind Memory Stick media allowing them to personalize their ERS-7.
"This latest generation design is a result of significant evolutionary advancements in robotic hardware and software, as well as our analysis of what people want most in an Entertainment Robot," said Victor Matsuda ERA's vice president.
The ERS-7 model will also feature Illume-Face, an innovative LED face panel that provides a new way for the robot to express its feelings, emotions and current conditions.
In addition to increased voice recognition capabilities, which allow the robot to understand approximately180 voice commands, the new model comes equipped with a newly developed visual pattern recognition technology so it can identify 15 credit card sized AIBO Cards that issue commands, change settings and modes. Furthermore, with this technology, the ERS-7 is able to find its Energy Station and recharge itself when its battery runs low. Additionally, the latest AIBO robot has been equipped with three new infrared distance sensors -- two located in its snout and a new edge detection sensor installed in its chest. With the robot's infrared sensor located in its snout AIBO will be able to better negotiate its environment, avoiding walls and solid obstacles. Further, with AIBO's edge detection sensor the robot's ability to detect an edge will be greatly improved reducing the risk of it falling off steep heights.
The new model, which has built-in wireless LAN connectivity, carries a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,599 and includes AIBO MIND software, a recharging Energy Station, one battery, a set of 15 AIBO Cards, an AIBOne (a new toy bone that AIBO can chase and retrieve for fun), AIBO's favorite pink ball, and the WLAN Manager CD-ROM software. The ERS-7 will be available, in early November (pre-orders begin on October 10), at the Sony Style Stores (New York, San Francisco and Orange County), the Sony Gallery (Chicago), and online at www.us.aibo.com.
Sony Entertainment Robot America will also be releasing an updated version of its freely-available OPEN-R software development kit (SDK) for the ERS-7, allowing for the development of customized software for the new robot. A public beta release of this SDK will be available at shipping time, with the complete release planned for February 2004. More information about the SDK is available online at http://www.sony.net/openr/.

Once the race starts, players use action cards to outmaneuver and outwit their opponent with the ultimate goal of crossing the finish line first. Like all great games, Initial D takes a minute to learn and a lifetime to master.
