The young judoka who is in her mid-twenties recieved her nickname, "Yawara-chan" after the popular manga series about a young female judo champ following her first victory as a 15-year-old high school girl. Tamura attributes the name to her styling of a ribbon in her hair, and the fact that she had won a gold medal, just like the Yawara manga character. A journalist covering her first win wrote that her victory was like a story out of a comic book. The nickname remains with the young champion today as headlines heralding her latest victory are splashed across the front pages of major newspapers in Japan, and the rest of the world.

We're gettting very close to the magic number of preorders required to get the Tylor TV series out on DVD.
Here's the details on the DVD:
After some research, it seems as though there's LOTS of interest. It has been determined that the best way to get these to the fans is to build the product out on DVD-9. This does not mean lower quality, but a special double-layered DVD which can hold more information. (Yes, I checked these discs do play on your regular DVD player just as any other DVD will.)
The list price for the whole series on DVD will be $129.95, the same as for VHS [What a deal!] Keep checking back to see what "extras" this set will have, as we're not sure yet!
Some people don't have the money to buy the whole series at once. That's why we're offering the discs individually as well. You can buy each disc which will have 6-7 episodes for $34.95!
Here's the scoop: The Right Stuf needs to get orders in to keep up with the significant costs to produce a quality DVD set. So... the first 750 people to purchase the DVD Set will receive special bonuses including a "I made the Tylor DVDs Happen" T-Shirt, and other stuff that they haven't decided on yet. Cels from the series, maybe? Who knows -- but you have to be in this select group in order to get the "extras."
The company is hoping to have it out by Christmas, but aren't promising anything yet. The quicker the orders come in, the faster that we can produce them.
